Three rivers Gig Race 2012
2012 Gig Racing
3 Rivers Race (an annual endurance torture test for the gig rowing fleet of about 6 miles visiting the entrances to 3 of the rivers feeding the Tamar), there was a forecast of winds of 40-60mph and heavy rain. It didn’t turn out quite that way, the rain pretty much held off and the wind speed was lower but still made for some epic sharp wind over tide chop for mile after mile. Controlling the boats on the downwind leg was a challenge for all crews.
