St Columb Major Hurling Shrove Tuesday 2016
The Shrove Tuesday hurl took place on a cold early February day when Nigel Masters threw up the ball on behalf of the winner of the second hurl of 2015, countryman Sean Johns.
After almost an hour of hurling up and down the street townsman Marco Ciarleglio made a break down Bank Street in a northerly direction. The ball then passed between a number of townsmen including Jack Scott and Kaylup Johns, who were harried by the countrymen amongst them Matthew Rodliffe and Harvey Ellery. Marco regained possession near Trewan Hall and broke away for the parish boundary at Whitewater to record his fifth personal victory.
