Bodmin was, on Sunday 14th June 2009, host for the Normandy Veteran's Association parade, service and wreath laying commemorating the 65th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy invasion. Held at the War Memorial, Priory Park, followed by a March Past and procession to St Petroc's Church for a further service and laying up of the Normandy Veteran's Association standard. Attended by Normandy veterans from across the South West, with representatives from the British and US armed forces, Lady Mary Holborow, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, together with the mayor of Bodmin, Bob Micek, and many fellow civic dignitories from across the county.
