Cornish Sharks welcome new signing

SWAPPING LA for Cornwall, The Cornish Sharks latest signing is determined to take American Football in the county to the next level.

Mike Adams, who used to play for a top club in America’s Premier League, is on an exchange with The Sharks for 6 months.

Sharks coach Brian Smallworth spotted Mike in Nevada two years ago and was impressed with his standard of play and offered him a chance to play in England.

Cornwall’s scenery has struck a chord with Mike, he said: ‘Playing in a game last week I was looking around and I almost had to call time out, because I was like wow, I’m in Cornwall.’

He added: ‘I like it a whole lot here...I like the people, everyone’s really nice to me and even people who haven’t heard of me are really nice too and that’s cool, I appreciate that.’

Coach Smallworth says the signing is a big deal for The Sharks: ‘It’s a huge signing. Mike’s a good ambassador for the sport. I wish there was more them. He’ll bring us to the next level and he’s such a humble gentleman.’

He added: ‘This season is going pretty good, we’ve had four wins, two losses, so its going quite well, I’m pleased with the way we’re going.’

Wanting to get acclimatised to Cornish life, Mike was keen to try his first pasty. He said: ‘I’m a potato person anyway, so with the potato and meat together, that’s good enough for me. It was surprising, it’s a hefty meal.’
