Elvis spotted in Newquay - well, three of them!

The undisputed King of Rock and Roll has been spotted in Newquay, well, three of him in fact!

A special Elvis tribute night took place at the Glendorgal Hotel, featuring songs from throughout the King's career performed by some of Cornwall's most talented performers, and raising money for Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club.

The evening was a walk through the life of the King. BBC Radio Cornwall's Matt Shepherd presented the early era, Jez Luton followed with the Vegas years and Johnny Cowling wound up the show with a tribute to all the Kings best hits throughout his life time.

"The audience enjoyed a 3 course meal while the entertainers sang amongst them." said David Brock, event organiser.

"Many of the people were dancing all around the room and Johnny even performed one number via satellite connection to the South of France for a phone in request."

An auction was held to raise money with donations from Lewinnick Lodge, Newquay Meadery, Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Images Studios, and the Watermark Brasserie at Glendorgal Hotel.

Over £600 was raised on the evening for the Lions Club, which is used to support local causes and it is hoped that it could become a yearly event.
