St. Newlyn East Band held their Annual Dinner & Awards Evening on Saturday February 6th.

Band members with their families and friends joined with St Columba M.V.Choir and The Summercourt Singers in the dining room of The Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay to enjoy a superb dinner before retiring to The Charlton Suite for the presentations of their Annual Awards for 2009.

Afterwards the band was invited to join the choirs in the main ballroom to sing and dance the night away! On behalf of all the band members, secretary Marian Prior would like to extend grateful thanks to Cath and Pete Butterley – and all the excellent staff at The Sandy Lodge Hotel – for the delicious and well presented dinner and to both choirs for kindly inviting us to share their evenings’ entertainment. A wonderful time was had by all!

Band Manager Denzil Boundy thanked Musical Director Barry Skinner for ten years of dedication and commitment to St Newlyn East Band and presented him with a special award as a token of appreciation from the band members. The Award Ceremony ended with another surprise for Secretary Marian Prior and MD Barry Skinner when junior members Tegan Wood and Aaron Williams came forward to present them with flowers and gifts of appreciation from all the band members.
