Outside the Mexican Cantina in Cliff Road, Newquay was Christmas entertainment, presents for children, refereshments, carols, Gerry the Magician and Hendra Holiday Park's Henry the Hippo. Vasant Maru of The Maharajah Indian Restaurant helped put the event together. The event was attended by the Bishop of Truro, the Mayor of Newquay and the High Sheriff of Cornwall. BBC Spotlight presenter Natalie Cornah broadcast live from the procedings.
Newquay Town Centre was packed as local traders offered 10% off as a community fayre took place. Face Painting, clowns and other entertainmnet including Newquay Town Band, Indian Queens Band. Organiser Ken Clarke said "It was absolutely fabulaous". The event was sponsored by Newquay Town Council. Phil Brown of Tic Toc said 'I know a number of customers who made a purchase because it was a special offer day".
Two Newquay surfers are challenging each other to a brussels sprout eating contest. Fore Street's Cafe Irie employee Joe Stramik and regular Matt (Mook) Ball are planning to eat 500 sprouts to raise money for Surfers against Sewage (SAS) and Rural Community Link Projects. They hope the 'Sprout Off' will be come an annual event.
Specsavers of Newquay gave Santa an eye examination before the big day.
Elvis, the Cambridge University rowing team, Alf Garnett and some giant ice creams all took to the roads around St Mawgan near Newquay for the annual pram push. The evnt involves residents dressing up and pushing a variety of novelty 'prams' around a route taking in a number of hostelries including The Airways, The Travellers, The Riv, The Merrymoor Inn and finishing back at The Flacon in St Mawgan village. Andy Marshall, landlord of the Falcon Inn said It was a fantastic event" It raised around £3,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance. The event was organised by Stanley Prowse and special thanks were given to M.J. Plant Welding who bought one of the prams at the end of the event and donated it to Mawgan Porth cabaret.
Mayor of Restormel, Denise Mutton and husband Mike, welcomed guests to Newquay's Hotel Bristol for the Christmas lunch. Guests included the High Sheriff of Cornwall Mrs L Hanbury-Tenison, Chief Superintendent Rob Cooper, Mayor of Newquay John Rainbow. Local musician Brain Moore played Christmas carols and Mayor's secretary Lisa Grigg said "It was really good, the Mayor was delighted with how it went".
Newquay Lions ran their popular Santa's Sleigh through the roads of Newquay raising money for different charities. The charities included FLEET (Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust), CLIC Sargent and NSPCC. President Graham Drew said "Our tour was well received". The four-day tour visited Pentire, Treloggan, Mayfield and St Columb Minor. Organsiers were Lions Ken Clarke and Andy Hannan.

Indian Queens Band treated the Working Men's Club in the village to a grandstand performance. Christmas carols were played and sung. Pam Ould said "It was an absolutely splendid concert". Around 160 attended to raise money for the band's funds.
Claremont held its successful concert in aid of the National Childrens Home. An afternoon tea was served by church members, the Gateway Club and disabled groups. Joanne Thorpe said the evening was special because young members of the Newquay Strings Orchestra played violins and cellos. Newquay Male Voice Choir were in fine voice.
