Newquay Visually Impaired Group held their annual Christmas lunch at The Griffin Inn. Tony Curram, the organiser said It was a nice afternoon for all of us to have a chit-chat with each other". 17 attended.
Newquay Lions Ladies Christmas night held at the Riviera Hotel, Newquay. Over 60 members of the club and their partners attended.
Over 200 people greeted Elvin the Skunk and many other furry friends at Newquay Zoo's Christmas Carol concert. Carols were sung by Newquay Amateur Operatic Society and Newquay Male Voice Choir. There was a torchlit tour of the zoo. Lorraine Reid, the evnt coordinator said "It was a lvely afternoon". A collection was taken towards the pequin pool refurbishment and Pangolin Conservation Project in South East Asia.
End of year bash at Heron Tennis saw the Junior Christmas Party and Awards with close to 50 children attending, mostly in fancy dress.
A special dedication of a clock on the front of Fraddon Village Hall celbrated the life an achievements of the late Jim Gatley. He was a well-kwon local man and the hall's chairman and caretaker. He was also trustee of Indian Queens Pit. He bequeathed a substantial amount of moeny to the hall when he passed away. Stan May, afriend, said "He is still missed today". Reverend Pat Robson led a special service and Indian Queens Band played. 100 people attended.
Trenance Lake in Newquay has a new attraction - one of the tallest foutains in Cornall. It sends a plume of water 15 metres into the air and will be illuminated at night with a spectacluar coloured light show. It marks the centenary of Trenance Gardens and was unveiled by Mayor of Restormel, Denis Mutton on 20 December. Newquay Disabled Club held their Chistmas Lunch at the Griffin Inn. 20 members attended and community member Gill Merrell said "Our treasurer, Bob Hayes, gave a speech and thanked everyone". She aslo thanked Newquay Lions Club for their support and donations.
Farmyard frolics kept children from Newquay Christian Centre 'amoosed' as they visited Dairyland. Party organisers David and Elizabeth Stansfield said ""It's brilliant to see all these children and families cominga long". Around 40 took part.
19 members held their 2006 Chrismas lunch at The Griffin Inn. Ex-chairman Brian Robinson complimented the venue and the speech made by current chairman Tina Holland.
