Awards for St Breward Silver Band members is something that have recently been introduced and are open to both Senior and Junior Band members. It is a little reward for all the individual's time and effort they have put in during the past year and also encourages other band members to up their game too. This year's award winner in the Senior Band was Nathan Baker, for good attendance and, after taking an audition, gaining entry into the Cornwall Youth Brass Band. In the Junior Band the award winners were Tom Best - for the most progress he has made and since receiving his award, Tom performed his very first solo at "Breakfast with Santa" in St Breward Village Hall and in front of a packed audiance too! Another Junior award - this time for outstanding achievement - went to Loveday Davies, who has now become a much valued member of the Senior Band and is the leader in the Junior Band. St Breward Messy Church Nativity Play

St Breward Messy Church Nativity Play

St Breward Messy Church held their Nativity Play in the village church, Friday 2nd December 2016. Contact Catherine McShee on 01208 850435.

Christmas came early to St Breward when the children of Messy Church acted out the Nativity story in the church. The children came dressed as characters and there was an assortment of angels, shepherds and Wise Men plus of course Mary and Joseph. There were also some well behaved donkeys and sheep. As Canon Sherry narrated, the children acted out the story as it unfolded leading up the birth of Jesus in the stable in Bethlehem. We then saw the angels who told the shepherds and the star that led the Wise Men to where Jesus was lying in the manger. As the story progressed carols were sung and it all ended with a rousing rendition of Ding Dong Merrily On High. Following this the children enjoyed a well earned tea of pasties and chocolate yule logs. Thank you to all the parents who came along with their children and helped make this special story come to life and show the children the true meaning of Christmas and how it all began. Thank you also to Julie Blackburn who played the organ so brilliantly so we could all sing along to the carols. St Breward Messy Church takes place the first Friday of every month usually in the Village Hall from 3.30pm and all children are welcome to come along with an adult....
