Two talented Newquay surfers have been getting ready for the experience of their lives, travelling to New Zealand to represent Great Britain.
Fiftenn year-olds Luke Dillon were selected amongst a strong contingent of surfers to represent the country at the upcoming Quiksilver World Junior Surfing Games.
The coveted games are to be held in New Zealand over eight days from the 20 January.
The boys will compete in the under-sixteens division alongside Bude's Jobe Harris and Bournemouth's Miles Lee Hargreaves.
Luke's father Tony, an experienced surfer himself is immensely proud of what both boys have achieved.
"They have worked and trained hard throughout 2009, and have beaten off competition from England, Wales, Scotland and the Channel Islands to achieve one of the four team places.
"Good luck to both boys. Newquay and Cornwall should be very proud!"
The boys, both students at Newquay Tretherras School left Newquay this week, and to keep up with their studies have been given laptops to do their schoolwork.
The contest, being held at Piha on New Zealand's West Coast consists of 250 surfers from 30 countries.
All taking part will be battling it out to be crowned World Champion.
However, with the surf forecast bewteen six and ten foot, the competition will be testing for all competitors.
